If you happen to be around Byron Bay, Australia, between the 24th and 26th of October 2014, and love surfing and/or the surfer lifestyle, make sure not to miss the Byron Bay Surf Festival. This is where some of Australia’s best surfers, shapers, hipsters, and hippies get together each year to share and celebrate their love for the ocean.

The festival will kick off the evening of October 24 with the open air film premier of Beyond the Surface, featuring Ishita Malaviya, India’s first female surfer.

The next day, you can do some surf yoga or ocean fit pilates, take part in the turtle release or beach clean up, or visit the shaper exhibits, surf art market, and tipi pop up block. That evening, Donovan Frankenreiter and special guests will play some fine tunes on their guitars during a free concert at the beach.

On Sunday, it is time to get in the water at Wategos Beach: join the tandem surfing workshop, or battle it out amongst your mates on the same wave at the Corona Party Wave Invitational. Also, make sure not to miss the Duct Tape Surf Demo by the remarkable and inspiring duo Pascale Honore and Ty Swan, the ‘Duct Tape Surfing’ team (see video below).
