Bella breathes fashion: she always looks strikingly beautiful and is ahead of our time. Bella studied architecture in both Paris and London at the best universities, but fashion was her big dream. After she moved back to her home country she decided to follow her passion in the Big Apple: New York. Bella likes honest, simple & elegant places, just like the clothes she designs.
Difficult question ? I have lots! My favourite designers at the moment are Eckhaus Latta, they are based between NY and LA and have an artist family around them that collaborate on their shop interior, accessories and clothes so you’re constantly surrounded by newness and designed experiences. And I like that you feel the polyester Chinatown in their collections still…which was where they started.
But! Favorite designer of all time will stay Agnes B, of course ?
I try not to buy anything new anymore unless it’s really special. So my favourite clothing shop at the moment is Mirth in Greenpoint NY. Lauren’s vintage finds are hard to beat… I never leave her shop without a new treasure.
Bella in Joshua Tree National Park
Nanucci Tessuti in Amsterdam, and B&J in NYC.
Hands down, Amelie Guepin. She will always be my biggest mentor and inspiration.
I never go to dry cleaners, it is where clothes go to die!
I don’t have a favourite jewellery shop, but my favourite jewellery designer at the moment is Sophie Buhai. She makes exquisite pieces out of sterling silver and is inspired by all the modernist greats. Her Medium Everyday Hoops are the “blue jean of jewellery”
The Greenpoint fish market, which is only open to the general public on Friday mornings. If you’re not there by 8am then prepare to wait outside for hours.
Bella and Veerle at Russ & Daughters.
Bunna Cafe in Bushwick, Brooklyn. It’s a really charming Ethiopian restaurant with great cocktails.
Gotham in NYC. The vibe there is still so 90s and they make the best dirty vodka martinis with giant olives.
Nha Mihn on Morgan Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The best Vietnamese sandwiches I’ve ever had.
Bella looking out over Okayama, Japan.
destination for its architecture
Probably Japan. I travelled to see as much as I could of Tadao Ando’s buildings.
place to get inspiration
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC!
